Alexandra Palace was built in 1873 as a public centre of recreation, education and entertainment. The palace covers some 7.5 acres. The palace was built by Lucas Brothers, who also built the Royal Albert Hall at around the same time.
Alexandra Palace was also home of the world’s very first television transmission. The museum is still at the same site as is the original tower.
